                         {\'{\i}}ndice magn{\'e}tico planet{\'a}rio Kp. O 
                         {\'{\i}}ndice Ksa {\'e} desenvolvido pelo Programa de Estudo e 
                         Monitoramento Brasileiro do Clima Espacial (Embrace), do Instituto 
                         Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE). Nessa an{\'a}lise 
                         s{\~a}o utilizados dados magn{\'e}ticos coletados pelos 
                         magnet{\^o}metros da Rede Embrace, e dados da International 
                         Real-time Magnetic Observatory Network (Intermagnet). Os 
                         magnet{\^o}metros medem a varia{\c{c}}{\~a}o temporal do campo 
                         magn{\'e}tico terrestre e, possibilitam a 
                         identifica{\c{c}}{\~a}o da deposi{\c{c}}{\~a}o de energia no 
                         sistema magnetosf{\'e}rico terrestre. Nesse estudo s{\~a}o 
                         apresentados resultados da qualidade do equipamento utilizado para 
                         as medidas magn{\'e}ticas, da metodologia utilizada para a 
                         qualifica{\c{c}}{\~a}o do {\'{\i}}ndice Ksa e da qualidade do 
                         {\'{\i}}ndice Ksa frente ao {\'{\i}}ndice de atividade 
                         magn{\'e}tica Kp. Os resultados da qualidade do {\'{\i}}ndice 
                         Ksa s{\~a}o apresentados de acordo com a varia{\c{c}}{\~a}o 
                         sazonal, e as condi{\c{c}}{\~o}es magn{\'e}ticas. Al{\'e}m 
                         disso, {\'e} discutida a correla{\c{c}}{\~a}o entre os 
                         {\'{\i}}ndices magn{\'e}ticos Ksa e Kp, a fim de validar esse 
                         novo {\'{\i}}ndice. Os resultados mostram que o {\'{\i}}ndice 
                         Ksa possui uma boa estimativa da atividade geomagn{\'e}tica no 
                         setor sul-americano. Apesar de apresentar certa discrep{\^a}ncia 
                         em rela{\c{c}}{\~a}o ao {\'{\i}}ndice Kp. ABSTRACT: The 
                         purpose of this study is to qualify a new geomagnetic activity 
                         index, the geomagnetic South American K (Ksa), concerning to the 
                         planetary magnetic index Kp. The Ksa index was developed by the 
                         Brazilian Study and Monitoring Program Space Weather (Embrace), in 
                         the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). In this analysis 
                         are used magnetic data collected by the magnetometers Embrace 
                         Network and data from the International Real-time Magnetic 
                         Observatory Network (INTERMAGNET). The magnetometers measure the 
                         temporal variation of the Earth's magnetic field and they allow 
                         the identification of the energy deposition in the terrestrial 
                         magnetospheric system. Therefore, in this study we present results 
                         of the quality of the equipment used for the magnetic 
                         measurements, the methodology used to qualify the Ksa index and 
                         the quality of the Ksa index versus the magnetic activity index 
                         Kp. The Ksa index quality results are presented according to the 
                         seasonal variation, and the magnetic conditions. Moreover, the 
                         correlation is discussed between magnetic Ksa and Kp ratio in 
                         order to validate this new index. Finally, the results show that 
                         the Ksa index has a good estimate of geomagnetic activity in the 
                         South American sector. Although it presents a discrepancy in 
                         relation to the index Kp.",
